There is arguably one positive trait in the modern Democrat party that the rest of us can learn from.
The modern Democrat party is indisputably better than the Republican party – particularly at the national level – in their ability to move as a single unified machine in whatever direction their leadership instructs them to. Love em or hate em, they get things done for their party. There’s a hierarchy in place, and one lone dissenter cannot stop what the party bosses want done on the political stage.
It doesn’t matter if the issue of the day is about something they as a party have traditionally been against, they will now be FOR IT, if the memo gets sent out. There are many applicable examples, but one that really stands out is illegal immigration.
Imagine Joe Biden (alleged POTUS 2021-2025) making this public statement today:
“If you knowingly hire an illegal alien, then you should be held accountable. … The employers benefit because they can keep wages low.” – Biden 2006
I challenge you to find a quote from a modern Democrat, anywhere, that sounds anything like this. What changed?
Well, “OrangeManBad”, or TDS, caused the Democrat party to shift away from the idea that illegal immigration is a problem in any way. In fact the term “illegal” became effectively illegal in all governmental communication and state-sponsored media organs. As soon as Donald Trump made illegal immigration a key campaign issue, it instantly became “racist” to also think this way.
The Democrats have somehow magically transmuted a significant percentage of the population, along with most “news” outlets, the ability to pivot on a dime on subject matter that really should be considered foundational to one’s belief system.
It is simply amazing to observe, from an analytical position.
This recent supercut compilation from The No Agenda Podcast highlights how effectively the Democrats orchestrate their messaging using their allies in the “New” media business to control the narrative, and keep their loyal followers singing the same tune:
Amazing. Imagine if the Grassroots Patriots could all get on the same page like this. We’d be unstoppable.
REPUBLICANS
My focus continues to be on the SD grassroots, and the more involved I get, the more Signal chats that I’m in, the more people that I converse with, only confirms this phenomenon.
Naysaying, backbiting and suspicion is the sand in the gears of progress in our movement. The general consensus seems to be this: If a “leader” steps forward to run for a higher office, like uh..let’s say governor, many in our camp adopt an attitude of “Well that guy is NO GOOD, because anyone who wants to be governor that badly must be corrupt, somehow”. It’s the kind of logic that threatens to keep the grassroots in the Loser category in perpetuity.
The other phenomenon that I’ve been witnessing is the extreme nitpicking that happens, particularly about past voting records. Look, voting records matter A LOT, I get it. And we must hold everyone accountable for their past actions, as one truism we all know in all aspects of our lives is this: Past actions can predict future ones. But in the 2025 session alone there was something like 600 bills to be considered. There will be a stinker or 2 in a pile that big. I had a loyal reader of this Substack send me a note (which I really appreciate!) saying that he could not possibly vote for someone because they voted for the “Anti Semitism” bill that was sponsored by Rep Duetsch back in 2024. Like, that’s the DEAL BREAKER?! That one vote alone? I’ve always appreciated the saying “Let’s don’t make Perfect the enemy of Good”, because of its complexity and simplicity. Like most axioms, this cannot apply to every circumstance in life. But it certainly applies in politics. “This person isn’t perfect” is the #1 complaint I am hearing lately when discussing candidates for office with other Patriots.
WHY ARE WE HERE?
Our movement has really only become a movement because of the Great Awakening that us ex-Normies have undergone at the hands of our corrupt and deceptive government. Our collective awakening to the reality of our party being overrun with RINO/TransRepublicans and globalists has providentially occurred at a time of tremendous turmoil in our state, politically speaking. Significant battles have been fought and won; all occurring EVERYWHERE ALL AT ONCE. Our enemies have flooded the zone with government overreach, Economic Deception schemes, propaganda wars, gaslighting, massive inflation in costs of living, Trump Derangement Syndrome which included multiple assasination attempts, stolen elections, attempted property right’s violations, devaluation of our currency (theft), wealth transfers, the Great Replacement powered by the inside-job border invasions, constant attacks on our worldviews, and on and on.
We The People – Patriots– have united in opposition to every one of these issues. These attacks on our sanity are what drove us off the couch, and into the mystical quagmire of the political world. Some of us have only been passionate about one, or maybe a couple of them. I know people who only care about Pro Life issues in politics. That’s it. And for them, the defeat of Amendment G was the Super Bowl last year, the whole enchilada. Other good SD people just recently got involved in politics in order to fight the CO2 pipeline, and thank God they did! For a very passionate group of friends, Election Integrity stands head and shoulders above all of these problems, because after all, without secure elections the Patriots will never win, right?
To me, it appears that the “grassroots” is actually more like a field of wildflowers, glorious to behold, impossible to manage.
This isn’t a judgment of condemnation, just my humble observation.
This reality of competing interests, if not properly dealt with, will ultimately lead us to destruction in our efforts to reform South Dakota government in any meaningful way. Our opponents – the RINOs- are unhindered by the constraints of loyalty and integrity, free to pursue power by serving the greed that lies directly in front of them. The soulless TransRepublican globalist offers up their services for rent to the highest bidder, which is why we hate them. Yes, fellow Christians, it is okay to hate wickedness.
Psalm 5:5 (“The boastful shall not stand before your eyes; you hate all evildoers”),
Psalm 11:5 (“The Lord tests the righteous, but his soul hates the wicked”),
and Proverbs 6:16-19 (listing things the Lord hates, such as a heart that devises wicked plans).
We are commanded to love our enemies because the Lord knows that we tend to hate them. I am not suggesting that it is fine & dandy to hate our enemies. On the contrary, we must strive to love everyone. But we must be honest and admit that it is extremely difficult to separate the wicked deeds of our enemies, which are anti-Christ in full bloom, from the human who is so proudly doing them.
But really, it isn’t the actual human we hate, it’s the lies they speak, the evil that they always seem to get away with.
MYOPIA
But frankly, the grassroots is our own greatest stumbling block.
Daily I hear this plea: “We need UNITY!” “Why can’t we come together to beat the Establishment?!”
Yeah, well, that’s what I’M SAYIN. We have to stop with the Purity Tests, the competing passions, the butthurt & the grifters.
Yes, there are grifters among us, and spies. People who do not share our desire for Liberty, or at least it’s not #1 for them. Grifters & spies must be dealt with, forthrightly. But these sociopaths are few in number. Most of us in this movement want the SAME THINGS. Try to remember that when a minor conflict arises, we are on the same team, facing a common enemy.
Unity is the goal.
DEMOCRATS
Back to those rascally NPC Democrats.
Remember when someone high up in the DNC decided that Biden was indeed too dementia brained to be POTUS, and slipped in Kamala overnight? Like lemmings, the vast majority of Dems suddenly got behind the obviously drunken, low IQ, cackling Kamala.
Now, we Patriots don’t have to be like the Democrats, exactly, having a moral compass that updates over wifi every day at midnight. We don’t have to rally around whatever empty-suit globalist candidate that the Chamber of Commerce decides should be our next governor. But neither do we need to barb ourselves to death in a stingray orgy when we clearly have a proven Patriot candidate sitting RIGHT IN OUR LAP!
The grassroots have been begging for Patriot warriors to step & fight for us on the big stage, now we have a 2 headed monster in Jon/Karla, & all some of you can do is complain that they don’t use the same brand of toothpaste you do.
SPEAKING OF GRIFTERS

A few of you may be wondering why I am even mentioning someone who hasn’t even announced his candidacy yet. Well, that’s because in the past several weeks, Toby Doeden and his campaign staff have been making contact with hundreds of legislators and influential people throughout the state, making his intentions clear. In the process, the Toby people are making this basic argument: Toby can win because he has MORE MONEY. Jon & Karla can’t win because they have LESS MONEY.
Is money our god now?
For the love of money is the root of all kinds of evil. By craving it, some have wandered away from the faith and pierced themselves with many sorrows. 1 Timothy 6:10
When we defeated all of those poisonous ballot measures way back in November 2024, you do realize that we were outspent massively by our opponents, right?
And the polls in Jan 2024 showed that the abortion till birth Amendment G was on track to pass easily. And the CO2 pipeline companies who were using bully tactics to run roughshod over innocent taxpayers had way more money than we did. Way more. On Amendment H, we were outspent 20-1.
For those of us in the thick of all of these fights, the prospect of a victorious outcome was dim.
But God.
God had other plans, and we put our trust in Him.

All that you can do at this point in time, now that Jon and Karla have announced their candidacy to a very enthusiastic group of Patriots all over this state, is screw it all up for the rest of us.
Look, I’d consider supporting Toby if we were bereft of any better Patriot options. But we’re not bereft, we’re blessed, with a bonafide Patriot team with a very pro-Grassroots history. From a purely logical viewpoint, the only thing that Doeden can possibly accomplish by entering the race at this point is to divide the grassroots, watering down our chances to defeat the Establishment. Some in the movement suspect that is the entire reason that Toby is being pushed by certain poltical actors in South Dakota. Sabotage.
“Tobidoed”
A new term I’ve been hearing around the coffee machine is “Tobidoed”, which is when Toby Doeden gets someone alone in a room and threatens to “end their career” if they get in his way. I’ve had personal confirmation that this happened to a well-known Patriot legislator friend. Don’t worry, he’s still on the Patriot Train.
Lastly….
The Grassroots is known for having very little power, and very little money, at least compared to the Establishment players. What we DO have is The People. As I’ve written before, they have the money but we have The People. And as we’ve seen the past few years, particularly in the ballot measure battles, The People are enough to win.
IF WE BAND TOGETHER.
But if we fiddlefart around, allowing a few bad actors & con men to splinter our movement, our enemies are in ecstasy, chortling at the spectacle of the Grassroots chimping out in “who’s the real conservative” monkey fights.
